Our story
Built on early mornings and good company
Emberwood began in 2016 as a six-seat espresso bar in a converted bike shop. We had one secondhand machine, a tiny oven and a simple idea: make everything properly, and make everyone feel at home.

How we got here
One early morning at a time
- 2016
A six-seat bar
We open in a converted bike shop with a secondhand espresso machine and a pastry case we fill before sunrise.
- 2018
Room to grow
We move to the corner of Linden and 12th, add a proper kitchen and a sunny patio that the neighborhood's dogs quickly claim.
- 2021
Roasting our own
A five-kilo roaster arrives. Forty test batches later, Hearth, our house blend, is born.
- Today
Still on Linden Avenue
Thirty-eight seats, a team of nineteen and the same promise: everything made properly, everyone made welcome.
What we believe
Four things we never compromise on
They guided the first six seats and they still guide every cup, crumb and plate today.
Coffee with a story
We buy green coffee from producers we know by name, pay well above commodity prices and roast every single week.
Scratch baking
No frozen dough and no shortcuts. Our croissants take three days and we would not have it any other way.
A seasonal kitchen
The menu follows local farms through the year, so whatever lands on your plate is at its very best.
Room for everyone
Step-free access, a dog-friendly patio and a team that remembers your name, and usually your order too.

Who we work with
Good food starts long before our kitchen
We keep our supply chain short and personal, so we always know where our ingredients come from and who grew them.
Our coffee
Green beans from family farms in Huila, Colombia and Guji, Ethiopia, bought directly and roasted in-house every Tuesday.
Our flour
Organic wheat and rye, stone-milled by a small family mill in the Willamette Valley.
Our dairy and eggs
Milk, cream and butter from a family creamery an hour south, and eggs from pasture-raised hens.
Pull up a chair
The kettle is on and there is a croissant with your name on it. We would love to meet you.
